It’s the height of summer, and it’s way too hot, to put it bluntly. But suddenly, I’ve fallen for a particular variety of shoes that does no favors during the heat: platform boots.
The perfect mix of ’90s grunge meets ’70s diva, platform boots, both in the form of ankle length and knee-high seem to make the barely-there summer clothes I’ve been wearing look just a little bit more put together. That slip dress over a tee? Knee-high platforms boots add an extra dimension, whereas the typical sandals make the outfit look lazy.
Vetements and Marni make wonderful versions, covered in stars or patched in different colors of lush suede. But if you’re like me, and don’t want (read: can’t) spend over $1,000 on a single pair of shoes, this is where fast fashion chains come in.
Earlier this summer, I bought a pair of baby pink lace-up platform boots by “Pleaser,” the shoe label that is known to be sold as stripper and pole dancer shoes. They cost less than $40, and I’ve even had some people ask if they were Miu Miu.
Below, see the best platform boots under $100 to buy now. You can wear them all the way into fall.
