Chet Lo Fall 2024
That signature spiked knitted texture came in all forms for Chet Lo’s fall 2024: as hooded sweatsuits, long zippered hoodies, little sweater sets, bodycon dresses with little chunky hoods and even draped over the shoulders as shrugs. The inspiration this season? The Terracotta Army, otherwise known as the statues encompassing 8,000 soldiers, 600 horses, 100 chariot commissioned by the first emperor of a unified China, Qin Shi Huangdi (reigned 221-210 BCE) to protect him in the afterlife.
Lo has pushed his go-to texture to a place that is ultra-wearable and less concerned with editorial boldness. That seemed to be the core of the collection here, as well as new knits and layers that hinted at the earthy hues of The Terracotta Army and pulled from the palette of the German visual artist Gerhard Ritcher.
Lo is clearly a master of texture–as seen in all things spiked but also with the introduction of a velvet Devoré top slashed at the shoulder or a long black bodycon dress lit up with extra-large paillettes. The only thing that could have given the collection more life would have been if those textural explorations were pushed even further into new place unknowns.
