This is our unfiltered review of Loewe Spring 2021.
Something about Loewe’s Spring 2021 collection centered on the idea of joy in fashion. Maybe it was the fact that the people who would normally attend the show were sent giant, supersize artful images made of the look book which could be used as wallpaper to plaster all over their personal spaces (scissors and wallpaper paste were included). And some did just that. The brand called it a “Show-on-the-Wall” and the wallpaper was created by British artist Anthea Hamilton.
As for the clothing in the Spring 2021 collection, designer Jonathan Anderson explained that he had trouble sourcing fabric with the pandemic ongoing. Instead, he used what he had and focused on the concept on fantasy.
It’s easy to see why there’s been so many ecstatic murmurs of how Jonathan Anderson should go on to design for a couture house, by people in the industry. Just look at the incredible and unusual shapes, the conceptual lines and the otherworldly fabrications he introduces season after season.
“We have to start loving fashion again. We don’t know what tomorrow’s going to bring. So let’s enjoy it!,” he said, of the collection.
