If you’ve read anything on SuddenChic, you can probably tell I’m a huge fan of Miu Miu–mostly because of the indelible quirkiness and pops of off-kilter colors, like chartreuse and salmon pink. The most recent collection (Croisiere 2017, AKA Resort 2017 or Cruise 2017) was presented inside the private residences of Hotel de la Paiva on the Champs-Elysees in Paris. The brand transformed the space into clubrooms of sorts, along with a cinema and restaurant.
As for the clothes? They were all presented on bizarre, surrealistic mannequins by the genius artist, Matty Bovan. Oh, and Kate Moss did a DJ set for the main event.
The look book signifies a change that’s been long coming in fashion for the past couple of seasons. Everyone knows style is cyclical–but for the first time, we may just relive the early 2000s through our fashion. Earlier in Paris, Vetements presented Juicy Couture logo velour tracksuits, and Miu Miu’s colorful mix of raver inspired knits, chunky flatforms and bucket hats are very London circa 2005. There’s other elements there too–the chinoiserie inspired necklines of galactic printed dresses are completely new, and the oversized, incredibly appealing, structural hooded pieces paired with the unstructured patterned pants and silk board shorts are pretty futuristic.
