When it comes to 70s style icons, Shelley Duvall represents everything great about the era. Particularly in the films, The Shining and 3 Women, Duvall brings to life both the dusty, country cabin stained plaid shirts, chunky sweaters and mock turtlenecks with the whimsical fantasy of soft fabrics and blush-toned pastels in the latter film.
Then there’s her hair: blunt bangs with a moppy bob or tousled shoulder-length ‘do.
In my opinion, her exact look in these two films mentioned above, but modernized would look like many of the Spring/Summer 2016 looks at Miu Miu.
No single actress today can compare to her look, because she’s slightly off-kilter in everything she wears. She can wear masculine pieces, such as oversized sweaters or shirts, and still look feminine without showing lots of skin. And she’s a true master of taking folksy pieces and turning them into something chic, just by way of styling. Her hair, makeup and look aren’t traditionally “pretty,” and she never looks like she’s trying. That’s the epitome of a true style icon. Click through the gallery above to see her best looks.
